Angel Ball 2010

21 October 2010

Cipriani Wall Street was packed to capacity on October 21st for the Foundation’s signature event, the Angel Ball, which raised over $3.7 million for cancer research. Hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Samantha Harris, stars including Kim Kardashian, Petra Nemcova, Chris Tucker, Stephen Baldwin, Russell Simmons, Vera Wang, Rosie Perez, and Anthony Kennedy Shriver came out to show their support. Sponsored by Romero Britto, Continental Airlines, Lorraine Schwartz, Inc. and Toresco Enterprises, Inc., the Foundation honored U2’s The Edge and his wife, Morleigh Steinberg, COTY Inc. CEO Bernd Beetz, and Managing Partner of the Founders Fund, Sean Parker. The evening featured performances by Grammy-Award winning triple threat Ne-Yo and beautiful Bajan songstress Shontelle. Heartthrob singer-songwriter Josh Groban crooned his latest hits while accompanying himself on the piano. Surprise musical guest the Edge picked up a guitar and joined legendary “Soul Man” Sam Moore on stage for a rousing rendition of “Stand By Me.” Angel Ambassador, “Survivor Africa” winner and real-life cancer survivor, Ethan Zohn, silenced the room with his personal story. The previous night, NYC landmark The Empire State Building lit up in the Foundation’s colors of red and purple to promote awareness for the need for cancer research.
