Angel Ambassador Selenis Leyva Gives Back to Bronx Hospital

Netflix Star Visits Montefiore's Spring Prom

Gabrielle's Angel Foundation & Angel Ambassador Selenis Leyva recently visited a very special prom. On Saturday, May 9, the ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK star brought her daughter, Alina and her brother Arnol, himself a 2-time cancer survivor, to bring some cheer to the patients at Children's Hospital at Montefiore who were readying for this annual event.

Arnol was treated for non-Hodgkin lymphoma at the Bronx hospital as a child, so their family wanted to give back to the very community that helped to save his life. In addition to her sister-in-law, Melody, Selenis also brought her friend and make-up artist, Tina Costello to help the girls look their springtime best. The prom theme was a black & white ball and the decor, prom dresses & tuxes were all donated for the occasion. This annual event, now in its sixth year, gave these chronically ill patients the chance to socialize with their peers, dance, have fun and most importantly, offered them a chance to celebrate life.

Gabrielle's Angel Foundation also provided a small grant in support of the CHaM Sibling Support services at Montefiore Hospital. Special thanks to the entire Child Life team at Montefiore for letting us join in the celebration.
